Kate Middleton may be a duchess, but she’s not into wearing high heels 24/7. The fashionable royal has shown us that flats like knee-high boots and sneakers can be just as stylish (and functional) on the job, and yesterday was no exception. The Duchess of Cambridge ditched her ladylike wardrobe for a pair of industrial-chic combat boots from See by Chloé.
Kate’s choice of footwear comes as no surprise, as yesterday’s agenda included a visit to the Scouts headquarters in London’s Gilwell Park. The trip, in which she learned about programs for young children aged four to six, involved various outdoor and hands-on activities with kids, from making sail boats to building a den in the forest.
While planting a sapling to honor the park’s 100th anniversary this year, Kate joked, “Normally I have to do this in high heels, this is much easier!” according to People. We feel that, your royal highness.
The Duchess of Cambridge previously stepped out in the ankle boots for a visit to King Henry’s Walk Community Garden in Islington in January. It looks like the footwear instantly became a new favorite.
Duchess Kate has nearly done it all in heels since she officially became a royal. In 2011, she also planted a tree (but in pumps and a shift dress) during a visit to Ottawa with Prince Harry.
In 2012, she was fully focused on playing a game of field hockey in a pair of heeled suede boots.
In 2013, she showed off her vertical in a game of volleyball while wearing cork wedges, jeans, and a blazer.
Let’s also not forget all three times she stepped out in heels carrying her newborn baby hours after giving birth.
Our minds are blown, but we’ll stick to our flat boots and sneakers over here.
